Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)
At CSCL we recognize that poor behavioural health can be a barrier for Individuals in achieving full inclusion within our communities and can be a hindrance to enjoying the best quality of life possible.
We promote good behavioural health through positive behaviour change by providing supports that demonstrate respect and compassion. CSCL retains a team of Instructors certified by the Crisis Prevention Institute™ (CPI) to provide behavior intervention training to all employees.
The Crisis Prevention Institute™ is a worldwide leader in evidence-based de-escalation and crisis prevention training. Their modern instructional programs utilize the power of empathy, compassion, and meaningful connections to reduce conflict.
Although many types of training are available CSCL primarily trains employees in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® (NCI). NCI training is evidence-based, fully accredited and is in full alignment with current Positive Behaviour Support practices within the Province of British Columbia.
NCI provides employees with the skills to safely recognize and respond to everyday crisis situations. CSCL’s CPI Trainer Team provides a variety of training events for all Employees and Caregivers in combination with concept reviews and formal refresher training.
Our team of Certified Instructors also participate themselves in a regular cycle of retraining and competency testing to maintain the most current standards as Instructors.
By investing in employee knowledge and skills in the area of behaviour support we contribute to ensuring that both the environments and supports we develop are the best possible fit for the Individuals we serve.
