The “Charity” Conundrum
As a non-profit organization, donations from individuals and businesses in the community play such an important role in allowing us to successfully bring our services to the community at the high standard we strive for.
Accepting charity however, comes with the risk of compromising the perception-shift we hope to bring about regarding clients of our services; that the lives of people with developmental disabilities have equal meaning and value to society and that we all have something to offer.
We hope that in encouraging continued support of donors from our community our message is not being diluted, but rather is being understood, embraced and shared throughout our society.
